Title: Introduction to Google App Engine

(The talk is jointly organized by IEEE Singapore Computer Chapter and Google Developer Group Singapore)

Synopsis:

Cloud computing is revolutionizing the modern data centers of both enterprises and hosting providers. The cloud computing stack is generally divided into three layers - IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. Most of the products fit into one of these three categories while a few of them cross-over to adjacent layers. In this talk, the speaker will provide an in-depth introduction to Google App Engine from a system architecture and application development perspectives. Google App Engine supports three major languages - Python, Go and Java or other JVM compilable programming languages. This talk will focus on Python programming language.

Dr. S. P. T. Krishnan, Scientist I, Cryptography & Security Department, Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore.

About the Speaker:

Dr Krishnan is currently Scientist I and Group leader of mobile security research group at Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore. Krishnan graduated with first class in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Madras in 1998, followed by Master of Science (by Research) and PhD from National University of Singapore in 2001 and 2012. He has been working with I2R for the past 11 years, worked at Pentafour Communications for a year and half after his graduation. Krishnan is also the community manager for Google Developer Group Singapore. Krishnan’s interests are in mobile security, computer security, cloud computing, high performance computing, data mining and machine learning.
